Bonnie Anderson, president of the Episcopal Church's House of Deputies, will receive two honorary degrees in October.

Anderson, the 32nd House of Deputies president and the second lay woman to hold the post, will receive the honorary degree Doctor of Canon Law from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee on October 13. The university includes an Episcopal Church-affiliated seminary. The degree will be conferred during the school's annual Founders’ Day Convocation.


Two days later, Anderson will receive the honorary degree Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, from the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York.


Anderson currently holds honorary doctorate degrees from the Episcopal Divinity School and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. She is also an honorary canon in the Diocese of Ecuador Central.
